From Tongue to Ishegra - Day 3 47 miles

Ah, we awoke today to a full Scottish rainstorm with lots of wind, around 50F and not too inviting to venture into.  Not a heavy rain but a driving rain.  The window glass on the leeward side of the sunroom doesn't show any raindrops but it is raining.

Beth and Randy are practicing their Yoga

Allan, Lori and Don are awaiting the newsman to mention a break in the weather.

I was basking in the "sun" room with the sound of wind and rain on the roof.

The forecast was for sun in the afternoon so five of us loaded bikes in the van and Ian drove us forward so the ride was reduced from 47 miles to 20.  Here was our drop off point at Durness.  Even though Beth appears to be Mercury, messenger of the gods, we all felt this was a bad idea.  About 50F, raining and blowing.

Don, Beth and Allan take off in the rain and wind.  Fortunately, we are riding with the wind most of the time.  Sue and I followed into the Scottish mist.

The Scottish mist indeed.

Susie waving at me about a half hour later excited that the rain has stopped.

The sun begins to assert its glow in the countryside.

At last, the sun broke through and the temp climbed to about 65F

Sue enjoyed one of the highland roads.

Getting near the end of our 20 mile day.  We are staying at the "Old School House" located roughly in the center of this picture.

Sue on her way down the shore road.

Some locals, Beth, Allan and Don are already enjoying tea and biscuits at the Old School House.

But before we settle in, we must go to the beach "OldShoreMore" because it is such a nice day!  Lori is making tracks to the water.

Ian takes the wrong path and ends up on top of the world next to beach.

Don and Lori staging a photo shoot.

Sue and I step up for a portrait shot after wading in near knee deep.  Water in the 50F range.  A grand day at the beach.

And now back at the Old School House awaiting dinner.

Sue's Venison steak.
